Why is my Hair falling out?

Hello,
I’m 27 and have medium length hair and get it highlighted about every 4 months since inwas 16 (only go to aveda salons and use aveda products) recently, past couple of weeks my hair has been comming out in the shower, it seems to be alot to me, more than usual. What could this problem be and how can I fix it?

How do Aveda salons lighten hair?

Since Aveda salons can’t bleach hair how do they lighten it? My hair is a dark brown/auburn right now and I have a $40 gift card to Aveda can they make my hair like a light brown/sandy blond?

great lengths vs socap?! ((EXTENSIONS))?

I am a stylist considering getting certified in either SoCap or Great Lengths hair extension application..

I heard SoCap is more durable than Great Lengths, But I also know Great Lengths hair is of the highest quality.

The cost of certification is not an issue, as I plan on getting the equipment as well, so it’s going to range 2-3k reguardless..

it kind of stresses me out knowing that great lenghts will terminate your certification if you don’t order $X amount of hair in X amount of months… also where i work there is also only 1 stylist in the whole company (of 6 salons) that is certified, so I’m not sure how high the demand would be… I know she’s kept busy for sure.. but I just have no idea what would be better for me to get on my own.

If I end up going to a different salon in the future… I just want the best hair/equipment needed to assure clients quality hair and durable bonds, to keep them coming back.

anyone have any pros/cons of either??
** as for socap being more socap being more durable, I have heard friends who had GL extensions say they fall out pretty easily, and have also read the same kind of reviews online.

but that MIGHT just be fault of the stylist who applied them.

any experience with either would help a lot!

With all the “investigations” and blame.. why is there no news about Diane Feinstein resigning her position?

SEN. Dianne Feinstein has resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee.

As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design. She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband’s companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp.

The MILCON subcommittee is not only in charge of supervising military construction, it also oversees “quality of life” issues for veterans, which includes building housing for military families and operating hospitals and clinics for wounded soldiers. Perhaps Feinstein is trying to disassociate herself from MILCON’s incredible failure to provide decent medical care for wounded soldiers.

Two years ago, before the Washington Post became belatedly involved, the online magazine Salon.com exposed the horrors of deficient medical care for Iraq war veterans. While leading While leading MILCON, Feinstein had ample warning of the medical-care meltdown. But she was not proactive on veteran’s affairs.

Feinstein abandoned MILCON as her ethical problems were surfacing in the media, and as it was becoming clear that her subcommittee left grievously wounded veterans to rot while her family was profiting from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. It turns out that Blum also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases—often without the benefit of competitive bidding—to the Department of Veterans Affairs, even as the system of medical care for veterans collapsed on his wife’s watch.

As of December 2006, according to SEC filings and www.fedspending.org, three corporations in which Blum’s financial entities own a total of $1 billion in stock won considerable favor from the budgets of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs:

My tat peeled… now ALL the color is gone!!?

I just had my 4th tattoo done. I had NO problems with the first 3. The 4th one is a wk old. It looked great when it was first done but now it has peeled and the color is gone… not just faded but completely gone!! The outline is still visible. I went back to the artist (a new guy..a different tattoo shop.. both were recommended) and he said that the color would return but that I would have to come back in 8 weeks for touch up. This is MORE than a touch up! I decided to get a second opinion. Another salon (my regular tattoo shop where I got my first 3) said it was a faulty needle or faulty equipment. Has this happened to anyone before???

should people give us tips as being a groomer my mom is the groomer i am a teenager and i wash most dogs and dry them all usually. so im like an employee. we charge 30 dollars a dog which i think is a fair price when other places charge 60 dollars. what do u think? i mean we dont ask for tip or demand tips i am just wondering.

Color to add thickness to hair?

Help! I have REALLY thin, fine hair. I hate it. I have finally accepted that I can’t wear it long and now wear it just above my shoulders, with some layers and use mouse to try to thicken it.

For years, I’ve been having it highlighted with a high-lift color from an Aveda salon. I was told that the color would coat my hair and actually make it feel a little thicker. Since Nov, my hairdresser has been using bleach, I believe. This has made the highlights more vibrant, and I like the look of the color, but it feels like it’s thinner than ever! I’m wondering if using the bleach is damaging it and making it thinner? Would switching back to a high-lift color be better? (Can I even DO this now, over the bleached hair?)

How do I make my hair blond?

I want to go to Aveda or Haircolorxperts. My hair is pretty damaged, though I take care of it, every week with a deep re constructive treatment, anyhoo, it’s about a shade 5 now, and has been dying red before.. so there’s still that pigment in it, and brown.. and I want to go to about a 9- 10. Will they have safe bleach? Can I lighten it safetly at home before I go to the salon? Does anyobody know?

Is it rude to switch hairdressers who work in the same salon?

So I had this hairdresser who did my hair three times, I really liked her. Then I went to go make my fourth appointment with her, but she was unavailable and I had to wait like a month if I wanted her. So then I told the receptionist just to put me with another hairdresser because I couldn’t wait that long.

Then a couple of months later to make my fifth appointment, I asked for the second hairdresser because she did my hair last and I liked her as well. But that time, my original hairdresser was working and she didn’t say anything to me. I feel really bad…..is it rude to switch hairdressers who work in the same salon? I don’t want to switch salons either because they’re the only ones who use Aveda products which I really like. Plus I live in a small town and there’s not much salons to choose from.

Do you think a Hair Salon can charge $50 for a Free treatment?

I rang up a HairDresser to use a free ‘Aveda Hair Therapy’ treatment voucher from Cosmo magazine. (There were only 2 salons in my city to choose from). I mentioned I wanted to use the free voucher – at no time did the girl say there would be a charge for it.

So once I was sitting on the chair about to have the treatment at the salon, the hairdresser says “Ok you can either choose to pay $50 to have your hair blow-dried or $25 for towel-dried” (As they wash your hair before the treatment). I was a little shocked that they wanted to charge anything, as they knew I had a free voucher (and said nothing about the charge over the phone).

I said I’d have to have it blow-dried (as I had a job interview straight after) – but wasn’t too happy about paying $50 for a free treatment.

Anyway, my question is do you think it was wrong for the Hairdresser to charge $50 for a blow-dry? Also is $50 the correct charge for a blow-dry and should they have mentioned this charge to me over the phone when I made the appointment?

what to do with porous hair and roots with a foil job?

I have been told that I have very porous hair. It was dyed very blonde and now is having a hard time holding on to darker color. I have been using color conserving shampoo from Aveda and leave in conditioners, but is there anything else I can do?

Also, this was the first time I got a foil job instead of all over color. My hair was at a 10 level and they used bleach highlights with level 7 lowlights on foils. There is a hard line where my roots were though. It has only been a week since my coloring and there was a pretty defined line when I left the salon (my roots are just under an inch long right now, medium brown). Is this normal for the first coloring and will it get better? I feel so gross right now with the roots but I don’t want to color again this soon…

My hair stylist at Vidal Sassoon cut the skin on my face with scissors. Can I get hepatitis or other disease?

It was only a nick, but there was a bit of blood. The salon manager told me they disinfect equipment only at night using a dry disinfectant. My appointment was at the end of the day so many people went before me. I’m really worried about getting hepatitis c or other disease. I was worried about hiv too, but it seems from reading on the internet that hiv virus doesn’t survive as easily as hepatitis virus. I’m worried sick. I’ve also read that most salon disinfectants don’t sterilize, so don’t kill the hepatitis virus. What’s my risk?
